Lyricist of a hymn "Amazing Grace" is written by John Newton. It's composer is unknown. John Newton firstly followed in his father's job, sailor, but gradually drifted into slave trading. Slaves were treated like farm animals and many of them were died from sickness, malnutrition and dehydration before they got to destination. He treated slaves as same. One day his ship was caught up in a storm and nearly sunk. He pray to the God and had a miraculous escape from the storm. He improved the treatment of slaves. He landed because of sickness, studied and entered the ministry. He wrote this song with regret of slave trading and gratitude to the God saved him in spite of what he was doing.
